Learning Styles (VARK)
According to VARK learning styles, there are three (sometimes four) different types of learning styles.
Before I explain what each of these is, I'll tell you what I mean by learning styles: the best way for a particular student to learn. The best mode. That doesn't mean that they can't learn any other way, of course, because a student can learn in any of the different ways, it's just that one way might not be nearly as effective as another. And isn't that the purpose of the education community? Finding the most effective ways to teach?
VISUAL-- These students learn best from pictures, slides, and diagrams of any sort. They like charts and bright colors.
AUDITORY-- These students learn best from sound. Hearing lectures and discussing them after, when they're confused they like to talk things out. Sometimes noise and music in general help them out.
KINESTHETIC-- These are the students that are always energetic and moving around through class. They learn best through actively doing activities and participating in things. They like using their senses, going on field trips, being active, and the like.
READING/WRITING-- These students learn best from lists, headlines, notes, reading things from books. They're often good at learning through essays and reading paragraphs.
If you're interested in finding out which you are, take this survey to figure it out.

More and more teachers are taking learning styles as law, even while they've yet to be proven. It's an important trend, particularly as it makes teaching more and more effective for the students. Don't be the last to start using the VARK learning styles in the classroom!
